We we're so excited to see the really really fantastic and well built cardboard constructions coming in from school teams and family teams that had planned and built together before the event day. Amazing!

The jury had both a very short and extremely hard time to decide which buildings to award.

And here below we present all Award winners in Cardboard Shanghai 2, 2014.

"Best Building 2014" + Most Interesting Architecture Award

Cardboard Shanghai Award Winner 2014, Awesome Kid's Club at Shanghai Centre Family Fun Fair
Team Klara and Alice, hailing from Italy, brought over a cardboard version of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The team said they spent one full day to build it.
Coming in at around 150cm in height and well made with interesting building and assembling technique as well as a nice leaning, this construction was impressive. The team was awarded with both the Most Interesting Architecture Award as well as the  "Overall Best Building 2014" trophy.

Best Construction

Cardboard Shanghai Award Winner 2014, Awesome Kid's Club at Shanghai Centre Family Fun Fair
Her name is Cool and after receiving the invitation to Cardboard Shanghai 2 via her school she convinced her father to work real hard on her homework after the event, if she just could get permission to participate in Cardboard Shanghai 2.

We are happy  that Cool dad agreed to this arrangement. Team Cool's brought this tall beautiful JinMao Tower. We learnt it's made from 100 pc of discarded holiday/new year greeting cards from last year, folded into triangular building parts. The jury awarded Cool and her dad with "Best Construction" for this building.

And this creative team of two did another great construction during the day that also was awarded - take a look further down the list at the award for "Highest Building".

Most Interesting Details 1

Picture
Last year's overall winner's YK Pao School was joining in this year too with a new team and new ideas. The team with grade 5 students have made every little detail themselves in this with no use of sharp knives. Many intriguing features and special are shown in the details and you can see that the team have put a lot of efforts in the making of this construction work of "Plaza 117" and its neighborhood.

Most Interesting Details 2

Picture
Team Kai managed to register for the award competition in the very last minute when they jury was halfway through the tour of Cardboard Shanghai. Turned out to be a lucky strike because the jury really liked this teams' simple but unmistakable take on Jing'an Temple and gave them an award for Most Interesting Details.

Most Creative Idea

Picture
5-year old Garen and his dad Jeffery came directly to our Construction Site when doors opened in the morning and started to build what was going to be a very nice tree house. The team  kept the focus and worked hard for a long time.  The jury was impressed by this unique idea for a building and how it was constructed and awarded Team Garen with "Most Creative Idea" award.

Best Decorations

Picture
Team Tanya dropped in to the Construction Site during the day and put a lot of effort in making their house beautiful with the materials available with creative use of tape and ribbons. Tanya explained that she made this house for her grandmother.
Team Tanya was given the "Best Decorated" award.

Most Colorful

Picture
Two families teamed up and brought in this  futuristic construction and made the last finishes on the construction and decorations at the Construction Site during the day. "Team Spaceship Shanghai" was given the "Most Colorful" award by the jury.

Highest Building

Picture
Grade 4 student Cool and her dad, as you read above, won an award for the fantastic Jinmao Tower made of old greeting cards. It turns out that this team was creative, focused and fast builders, and after a while at our Construction Site they registered yet another cardboard construction for the award competition.

Most Surprising

Award winner in Cardboard Shanghai 2 by Awesome Kid's Club 2014
In Pi-team, mom and daughter, put together the boat from the book and movie "Life of Pi", except this one had no tiger in it. The jury awarded this construction with the "Most Surprising"-award.

Awesome Kid's Club - Cardboard Shanghai 2
Shanghai Singapore International School - Green Club (SSIS) made a miniature Pudong area with the Pearl Tower, World Financial Center, Century Park, China Pavillions with many details as clouds, people, trees etc and with a mix of recycled materials as rolled newspapers, styrofoam, food containers and bubble wrap the jury awarded them the "Best Use of Recycled Material"
