Kids get to show their creativity by scratching their designs on black paper and have their pictures magically appear in rainbow colours.
Introducing water confidence to the little campers at The Summit is a fun activity. The kids can't wait to get in the water to play with all the wonderful water toys. Teaching them to move in the water, learn to not be afraid when splashed and to blow bubbles will all help them to be comfortable in the water.
Kids do daily activities with play dough making: snakes, balls, loaves of bread, cutting out shapes, ice cream cones etc. But little do they know, at the same time they are strengthening the muscles in their hands which will help their fine motor skills to hold pencils for drawing and writing later on. There is a learning concept behind all summer camp activities at The Summit for little campers!
What a great way to spend a sunny day by playing "What's The Time Mr Wolf?" outside. The kids get to practice counting then run away as fast as they can before the wolf can catch them for dinner time!
Camp teacher Kiki is introducing the kids to line dancing, working on their rhythm, coordination, love of music and confidence. You don't need a partner plus they are getting exercise without realising it.
The kids talk about walking through the jungle and looking for different animals. They are making binoculars to help them see the animals. Ordinary cardboard rolls are being made into binoculars for these little explorers.
The kids listened to a rhyme called "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly". Lesson learnt: Do not swallow animals! Kids made spiders in the rhyme with styrofoam balls and pipe cleaners, much less scary!
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
"There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat...
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog...
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat...
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.
The kids learn about the long journey of classical Chinese ink painting and how simple lines giving form to branches, flowers, bamboo. They learn paintings can show what the inner heart and mind of the artist sees rather than what their eyes see in reality.
There are lots of little artists at our awesome summer camp!
Our youngest kids at The Summit loves to read books! Every day new stories and a bunch of new questions. Reading is fun!
The little ones at The Summit had a fun morning creating snakes! It was fun painting but also a little bit scary when the snake started to bite..
