The kids listened to a rhyme called "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly". Lesson learnt: Do not swallow animals! Kids made spiders in the rhyme with styrofoam balls and pipe cleaners, much less scary!

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.

"There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.

I don't know how she swallowed a cow!

She swallowed the cow to catch the goat...

She swallowed the goat to catch the dog...

She swallowed the dog to catch the cat...

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider

That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.

But I dunno why she swallowed that fly

Perhaps she'll die.

The kids learn about the long journey of classical Chinese ink painting and how simple lines giving form to branches, flowers, bamboo. They learn paintings can show what the inner heart and mind of the artist sees rather than what their eyes see in reality.
There are lots of little artists at our awesome summer camp!

Summer is all about visits to the beach. Camp teacher Cici helped the kids to create their own beach. Using stencil outline painting techniques, they added sea animals they would see and things they would bring on a beach trip.

If you can't go to the beach, bring the beach to you!
